The July 13 Corks & Hops once again went off without a hitch, despite unseasonably warm weather with temperatures hovering in the mid-90s, according to organizers Louis Boehle and Michelle Hake. They said they were very satisfied with the hundreds of participants from throughout the Southland who attended the event.
Some of the returning vendors participating at 10 pouring stations included Ritual Brewing, Stone Brewing and Lake Arrowhead Brewing Company, Chicken Republic and Buddy’s BBQ.

A band gets ready to play before Corks & Hops began at 3 p.m. on July 13.
Encountered while relaxing in the shade and listening to a rockin’ band at Bizzyland were Harley and Jolene Heft, no strangers to Cork & Hops, who ventured from Ventura for the fifth time in the past year. When asked what encourages him to return so often, Harley told the Alpine Mountaineer, “A friend of mine owns a cabin here, and we like to go fishing together. I’ve made a lot of new friends here, 12 to be exact, mostly at the Stockade.”
Meanwhile, across the street at the Alpine Mall another band, featuring local guitarist and powerful singer Braden from the Sawpit Canyon Band, was playing loud rock ‘n roll favorites… Hey, if it’s not loud, it’s not rock and roll.

“Minnie Mouse” and friends enjoyed dancing at Encompass Antiques.
Up the street at the Crestline Jerky Company, Molly’s Art Gallery and Crestline Antiques, longtime Crestline favorite, Buddy’s BBQ was serving up tacos, burritos, nachos and other Mexican fare. Down the street at Trinket Trader, Maxx Hill, along with his wife, Corina, was playing his ukulele and singing popular vintage songs from the 1940s and 50s, while farther down Lake Drive, at Encompass Antiques, another band was playing outdoors while dozens of folks were groovin’ to the music and dancing while others were munching on fried chicken from Chicken Republic and tacos and burritos from another vendor.
Many folks who had already visited the eight food and beverage vendors lining Lake Drive chose to hop on Mountain Transit’s free weekend trolly up to Top Town, where two more pour stations were found at Hearth & Sage General Store and a satellite booth from the Bear Claw Saloon.
This year’s premier sponsor of Corks & Hops is Better Homes and Gardens/Lakeview Realty.
