Comedy, rock ‘n roll and gourmet food stations will combine to create an evening and concert “under the stars” to raise funds for the Mountain Communities Boys & Girls Club.
Comedian Ty Niccoli will kick off Concert Under the Stars.
The event – which will take place on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Lake Arrowhead Country Club – will open with the comedy of Ty Niccoli. Described as a “dynamic and hilarious comedian,” Niccoli is known for his quick wit and engaging storytelling. He has performed at the Comedy Store, the Laugh Factory and the Ice House. And now he brings his energy and humor to the mountain.
Guests at the Concert Under the Stars will then be treated to the music of Journey, as presented by Journey USA. The band has been called “the closest thing to 70s and 80s Journey music you’ll ever hear.” With an emphasis on crowd participation and high energy performances, this tribute band captures the signature sound of Journey with hits like “Don’t Stop Believing,” “Open Arms,” “Separate Ways” and “Any Way You Want It.”
All that laughing and dancing will work up an appetite. Guests will have five gourmet food stations from which to choose. There will be seafood – shrimp cocktail, spicy and traditional ahi poke, shrimp ceviche – and tacos – chicken, shrimp, carnitas, carne asada, quesadillas and chips and salsa. At the fry bar station guests can enjoy calamari, mozzarella sticks, panko shrimp, cowboy fried corn clusters all with sauces for dipping. And there will be pizza – white with shrimp, pepperoni, and bacon, spinach and grilled onion.
No dinner event would be complete without dessert – at the dessert station there will be tuxedo cake, s’mores, tres leche cake. Chocolate mint tart, lemon bars and oatmeal cookies.
Each seat comes with a raffle ticket. Guests will have the opportunity to win a $500, $1,000 or $1,500 cash prize. In addition, there will be an iPad, smart TV, gift baskets and more. Additional raffle tickets will be available for purchase.
Check-in will be at 5:30 p.m., when the food stations and bar will open. Comedian Ty NIccoli will open the show at 6:30 p.m., followed by Journey USA at 7:00. The band will return following the intermission and raffles.
