Soroptimists honored royally at special dinner

At a dinner hosted by Ben and Arsine Shirvanian at the Castle in the Forest, Soroptimist International of Rim of the World was honored for all they do for women in the community.

Members of the Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce and other guests enjoyed appetizers and dinner prepared by caterer and personal chef Tami Pounds. While they dined, they were treated to the music of cellist Elijah Behringer.

Robin Bull, the chamber’s executive director, presented Soroptimists Jo Bonita Rains and Deborah Fancett with the chamber’s Legends of Lake Arrowhead award. She noted the many activities sponsored by the Soroptimists: Every Girl Counts, the program for girls at Mary Putnam Henck Intermediate School; free mammograms at Mountains Community Hospital; the breast cancer walk at SkyPark, slated for Oct. 6.

Corrine Mora, representing Representative Jay Obernolte, and Anna Zarley, representing Assemblyman Tom Lackey, presented the Soroptimists with certificates honoring their work in the community. Zarley also presented the Shirvanians with a certificate recognizing them for hosting the dinner.

Following the dinner, Arsine Shirvanian took interested guests on a tour of the villa, explaining the work they had had done to complete it and their plans for its use.
