The Lakeside Players Theater Company will be performing an original play at the Tudor House in Arrowhead Villas at the end of August. The play, No Way Out, written by David Heisler, is currently in rehearsals and has already had three show previews to excellent reviews from the preview audiences.
“The reactions to the show have been great,” said Heisler. Since then, the show has improved even more with the feedback given.
Mountain resident Brian Follis is the director of this show. As an actor, who has performed in numerous Lakeside Players shows and other productions, he understands the importance of creating believable three-dimensional characters and how important communication with the audience is in a show of this caliber.
Follis also has a calming effect on the actors in the show, quelling any stage fright as he confidently leads the production to stress-free, dynamic performances. Because of the confidence Follis instills in the performers, the actors are confident in their total knowledge of the show.
No Way Out will pull at some heart strings and challenge the audience as they sympathize with the sorrow and grief of the main character as he grows and matures. “You will laugh and cry because the more serious subject of the material needs comic relief, which this show has,” said Heisler during an interview last week with The Alpine Mountaineer. Although No Way Out is a drama, the show has many humorous parts as it looks at the inevitable steps of life, which are filled with numerous emotions, challenges and, of course, irony.
The show will be produced at the Tudor House in Arrowhead Villas on Aug. 30, and 31 at 7 p.m., ending Sunday, Sept. 1 with a matinee at 4 p.m.
There will be 5:30 p.m. dinner options from Rocky’s Roadhouse for the Friday and Saturday night shows and a 3 p.m. lunch before the matinee. Meal options of pulled pork, chicken or vegetarian sandwiches with pickled red onions and jalapenos, coleslaw, side tri-color pasta with mozzarella balls, pepperoni and olives and a side garden salad with croutons and tomato and cucumber, at $15 each, maay be selected when purchasing tickets.
