Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest officials announced a new ‘do-over’ date on Saturday, Nov. 9, to make up for the postponed dates (September 14-15, 2024) that were scratched because of the recent Line Fire incident.
Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest will now extend further into November with a special tribute that honors all firefighters, law enforcement, U.S. military, as well as local mountain community residents, with free admission to its Nov. 9 ‘do-over’ date.
The new date is on Veteran’s Day weekend, an ideal time to honor those who serve in the U.S. military, but also to pay homage to the courageous frontline men and women who risk their lives to ensure local communities keep safe. The free-ticket offer is valid for anyone with an official badge or proper I.D., including firefighters, U.S. Forest Service, law enforcement, U.S. military and veterans. The heroes’ immediate family members and/or significant others can join the fun for free, too!
“We’re so thankful for the hard work of all the firefighters that kept our little mountain community safe once again. We’ve decided to do over the weekend we missed,” said Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest Director Monica Marini. “In appreciation of their hard work, and all the frontline heroes, we’re inviting all American heroes to come celebrate on us . . .and their families too.”
The Line Fire had many local residents on edge for more than a week due to the continual evacuation notices. Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest family empathizes with their San Bernardino Mountain neighbors and friends and have upped the ante for locals, too. The Nov. 9 ‘do-over’ event is free for all local citizens in the San Bernardino Mountain communities, which includes the entire Big Bear Valley (Big Bear Lake, Fawnskin, Big Bear City, Sugarloaf, etc.), Running Springs, Lake Arrowhead, Cedar Glen, Skyforest, Twin Peaks, Arrowbear Lake, Green Valley Lake, Angelus Oaks and Forest Falls. Local residents of the San Bernardino Mountains must show a valid ID at entrance to receive free admission.
“This particular celebration is a time for locals to just let their hair down and enjoy an ice-cold German beer with their neighbors and frontline heroes who protect our towns,” added Marini.
