Crestline’s annual series of Corks & Hops craft beer and wine festivals concludes this coming Saturday, Oct. 5. Sponsored by the Crestline Chamber of Commerce, Corks & Hops is a wine and beer tasting festival featuring craft beers from many Southern California breweries and wine tasting from local and Southland wineries, along with live music, pop-up vendors and food tastings from several local restaurants.
The yearly summertime event runs from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Crestline Chamber of Commerce is busy coordinating and organizing this final Corks & Hops of 2024 after the chamber had decided to cancel the Sept. 7 event due to the horribly smokey air from the Line Fire. The chamber organizers could not imagine expecting the bands and singers to perform in that thick and unhealthy air from the fire and felt they did not want to entice visitors to come up the hill while an out-of-control fire was growing. They still firmly believe that was a good decision.
Live music and free shuttle service are included with all ticket purchases; tickets are available in advance by logging onto www.corksnhops.com. Guests can check in at either Top Town or in front of Higher Grounds Coffee Company on Lake Drive. Tickets purchased in advance at $40; they are available on the day of the event for $50. All-you-can-drink tickets are available for $55 in advance or $65 at the event.
Guests are encouraged to roam the sidewalks of Crestline’s and Lake Gregory Village’s business district, stopping at the 10 pouring and tasting stations along the way. But, at any point along the way, they can board Mountain Transit’s free red shuttle bus, which can take them to the other tasting stations or up to Crestline’s historic Top Town shopping district.
Because last month’s event was canceled, those who had tickets and have not asked for nor received refunds may use them for no extra cost.
Pouring stations of both beer and wine will be located at several locations in Top Town, including Hearth & Sage. On Lake Drive, just beyond the new Lake Gregory Village mural, begin tasting at Encompass, Trinket Trader, Ace Garden Center, Crestline Antiques, Molly’s Art Gallery and several other locations. Each participant is given a map of locations and a wrist band with removable tabs so everyone can get all their pours.
The chamber is already beginning to plan a Mardi-Gras themed Cork & Hops event for next year, since last year’s event was so popular. More information on that event will be forthcoming.
