It’s no secret that wrestling enhances one’s abilities in all other sports. Balance, agility, stamina, speed, discipline and grittiness are just some of the benefits that wrestlers take into other athletic endeavors and football is no exception.
The immortal Olympic champion and Iowa head coach Dan Gable even went so far as to say, “Once you have wrestled, everything else in life is easy.”
For Rim wrestler Christian Granger, football is just one sport that he makes look easy. Not only was he last week’s “Player of the Week” for Rim varsity football, he is a team captain, an All-League and All-CIF player, a nominee for the Ken Hubbs award and an all-around great guy. Wrestling has been the foundation for this ferocious four-sport stud-muffin. And just look at that letterman’s jacket. It’s rumored that it weighs 45 pounds from all of the awards, patches and regalia!
Other notable and up-and-coming Rim football wrestlers are Devin Huff, Wes Musgrave, Logan Musgrave and Johnny Banks.
Not everyone can be the best at everything, but wrestling will certainly make you better at life, even if it’s just a tiny increment every day. You don’t need to have hulk strength or handsome looks like Christian; you only need to be willing to work toward bettering yourself.
So, if you are a student or you know a student who fits this bill, contact Joey Dorsey, the head coach for Rim wrestling on his cell at (909) 273-3408. You will never regret becoming what you never thought possible.
