Every spring and fall, the Crestline community gets together to have a community cleanup day.  In the fall, it is cleaning up from all the visitors that have come to Lake Gregory and Crestline during the summer; in the spring is cleaning up the winter debris the storms have wrought upon the community and getting the community ready again for vacationers.

Crest Forest Municipal Advisory Council member and past commodore of the Lake Gregory Yacht Club Rick Dinon has taken it upon himself to coordinate this event each year. It makes the town sparkle and shine.

The fall Crestline Cleanup Day will be on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. or whenever each volunteer has completed their area. Dinon is asking the volunteers to meet at the North Shore parking lot at the Lake Gregory beach entrance to sign in and get assignments. They should wear comfortable clothes and bring gloves, if they have them. There will be snacks, water, bags, pickup sticks and disposable gloves for the volunteers to use.

During last spring’s cleanup day, they were short on volunteers, so they didn’t have enough people to also clean up the Top Town area. Dinon says, “Just one walk around the lake or a stroll through Lake Gregory Village or Top Town with the cleanup bag and then you’re done. It’s a short job and not that messy. We all need some exercise – you can walk at your own speed and then it is a win-win for all of us and the town, too.

“Tell your neighbors and friends too, and then remind them again later, and put this on your calendar.” Anyone may volunteer; no advance notice is needed to come out and help.

“We’d love to see you all making Crestline clean and shine while getting it ready for winter,” added Dinon.
