After moving to California from Idaho to study business and theater and then starting her own business – CoAct Productions – Lyndsie Scoggin moved to Running Springs and has since started a second company
Odyssey Adventure Co. – which Scoggin formed with Morghann Stevens – is described by her as a “fresh face in the San Bernardino Mountain communities.” She is on a mission to “inspire adventure and creativity with their unique entertainment experiences.”
Scoggin’s focus is on immersive theater, which she calls an umbrella term. It can range from escape rooms, which she ran in the Los Angeles area, to “theater that brings you more into the reality of the story.”
Odyssey Adventure is partnering with the Lakefront Tap Room, where Scoggin currently works, to present Nevermore, an immersive murder mystery experience.

The murder mystery has been inspired by Poe’s poem “The Raven.”
Over the course of the evening, guests – seated at tables of six – will attempt to solve puzzles presented to them. Their goal: To unravel the dark secrets surrounding the tragic death of Lenore, from Edgar Allen Poe’s poem “The Raven.”
The guests will enjoy a four-course tasting menu described as “so good, it’s scary.” A special Raven’s Blood cocktail has been created for the event; a nonalcoholic version will be available.
“There will be theatrical elements,” Scoggin said. “And there will be very hands-on detective work.” Poe, portrayed by Stevens, will remember what happened the night he lost Lenore.
Each table will have a puzzle box. With each course, the guests at each table will work as a team to investigate a new suspect and a new puzzle.
“As Edgar recalls what happened that evening, he will need the audience’s help to figure out what happened,” Scoggin said.
There will be a lot of audio elements to the evening, including an “appearance” by Lenore’s ghost.
Scoggin and Stevens wrote the script, inspired by “The Raven.” They have designed the audio, music and props.
The two business partners met while working at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa. “We bonded over our love of theater,” Scoggin said, “and decided to work together.” Stevens, Scoggin noted, “does music composition – it’s beautiful work. She’s very good at what she does.”
Guests at Nevermore are encouraged to dress in all black, Victorian-inspired attire. The immersive theater experience is intended for guests aged 13 and older. Three shows are scheduled: Oct. 22, Oct. 29 and Oct. 30, all from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The Lakefront Tap Room is located in Lake Arrowhead Village.
Tickets are available at www.ticketleap.events/tickets/odyssey-adventure-co/nevermore-taproom.
Scoggin added she has all sorts of ideas for immersive theater. “There are so many fairy tales to play with – and we live in a forest!”
