According to the National Federation of High Schools, wrestling had the largest percentage increase of athletes for both boys and girls teams for the second year in a row.

Total participants reached an all-time high, breaking the 1976 record, with 357,131 high school wrestlers. Boys’ participation had the highest growth rate of all the major boys sports (+12.5 percent). Girls’ participation continues to be the fastest growing girls high school sport (+28.5 percent).

“Wrestling is seeing success everywhere. The time has come when our kids are looking for a challenge, to get fit, and prepare themselves for life; wrestling provides a great answer for that,” said Rich Bender, executive director of USA Wrestling.

With the season just weeks away, now is the time for high schoolers to get their wrestling boots and get ready to ruuuumble!!!!!
