88 Pounds of methamphetamine located in suspicious activity investigation

On Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at 1:50 p.m., Sergeant Rios observed two trailers connected to a generator on vacant land in the 13500 block of Rosado Road in Phelan.

When Sergeant Rios approached the trailers, multiple individuals ran from the location. With the assistance of the California Highway Patrol Aviation Division, deputies located and detained Carlos Lizarraga, 39 of Phelan.

A search warrant was issued and executed on the trailers. Two AR style rifles, a handgun and approximately 88 pounds of methamphetamine were located inside the trailers. Evidence was also located consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Lizarraga was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center. He is currently being held in lieu of $1,000,000.00 bail.

Help requested in search for missing 69-year-old man

On Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at approximately 4:24 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Station responded to a missing person report.

During the investigation, deputies learned Roberto Robles, 68 of Apple Valley, was last seen driving his vehicle northbound on National Trails Highway and has not been seen or heard from since.  Robles was last seen wearing a black checkered shirt and drove his blue 1995 Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicle had two empty white water tanks in the bed. He is described as being 5-7 tall, 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Vehicle vs pedestrian traffic collision claims one life

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, at approximately 5:12 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded to a sedan and pedestrian traffic crash that occurred on Outer Highway 18 North west of the intersection of Erie Road, in the town of Apple Valley.

Through investigation, deputies determined an orange Chevrolet Sonic driven by a 26-year-old resident of Victorville had been traveling east on Outer Highway 18 North toward the intersection of Erie Road. A pedestrian, 37 of Apple Valley, was walking east in the lane of Outer Highway 18 North toward Erie Road. The Chevrolet sideswiped the pedestrian near the intersection with Erie Road. The driver of the Chevrolet stayed on scene throughout the investigation and cooperated with law enforcement. Medical personnel performed lifesaving measures, but the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigative Team (M.A.I.T) arrived and are conducting an investigation. Westbound lanes of State Highway 18 were closed between the intersections of Flathead Road and Dale Evans Pkwy for approximately four hours while deputies processed the scene for evidence and looked for video surveillance and potential witnesses.

Suspect arrested after pointing replica handgun at store employees

On Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, deputies were dispatched to a report of a shoplifting at Beyond Gas Station located on Dale Evans Parkway in the town of Apple Valley.

Deputy G. Gregory arrived on scene at approximately 1:56 p.m. and contacted employees at the store. Store employees reported Davion Cooley, 36 of Apple Valley, entered the store, selected food items and attempted to leave the store without paying. Employees contacted Cooley, who then pulled a silver pistol and pointed it at the employee. Deputy Gregory located Cooley and found the silver pistol to be a lighter in the shape of a pistol.

Cooley was arrested and booked into High Desert Detention Center on a charge of robbery. On Monday, Nov. 4, the Victorville District Attorney’s office filed misdemeanor charges against Cooley for PC 417.4 – brandishing a replica firearm and PC 459.5 – shoplifting.

Woman arrested for robbery at Target store

On Thursday, Oct. 31, deputies were dispatched to a report of a shoplifting at Target located on Bear Valley Road in the town of Apple Valley.

Deputy K. Mammolito arrived on scene at approximately 3:30 p.m. and contacted loss prevention at the store. Deputy Mammolito learned the suspect, identified as Joanna Allison, 40 of Hesperia, concealed items and pushed past loss prevention employees as she exited the store. Allison was detained by store employees and was arrested by Deputy Mammolito.

Allison was booked into High Desert Detention Center on a charge of robbery. On Monday, Nov. 4, the Victorville District Attorney’s office filed misdemeanor charges against Allison for PC 459.5 – shoplifting; PC 242 – assault; HS 11364(a) – possession of narcotic paraphernalia; and HS 11377(a) – possession of a controlled substance.

DUI driver arrested after fleeing scene where one man pronounced deceasedOn Monday, Nov. 4, at approximately 3:52 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded to a motorcycle versus sedan traffic crash that occurred on Bear Valley Road at the intersection with Iroquois Road, in the town of Apple Valley.

Through investigation, deputies determined a black Harley Davidson was traveling in the westbound number one lane of Bear Valley Road at the intersection with Iroquois Road. A black Hyundai Genesis was traveling eastbound on Bear Valley Road in the left-turn lane at the intersection with Iroquois Road. The driver of the Hyundai, David Rolph, 30 of Apple Valley, made an unsafe left turn in front of the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist, 23 of Hesperia, broadsided the passenger side of the Hyundai. Rolph fled the scene in the Hyundai and then fled on foot.

Medical personnel performed life saving measures, but the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Rolph was later apprehended by deputies and was subsequently arrested for violations of California Vehicle Code (C.V.C.) 20001(a) – hit and run; C.V.C. 23153(a) – DUI causing bodily injury; C.V.C. 23153(b) – DUI; Penal Code (P.C.) 192(c)(1) vehicular manslaughter; and P.C. 273a(a) – child abuse.

Two suspects arrested for September stabbing Through further investigation, Central Station’s Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) deputies identifed George Anthony Avila, 19 of Redlands, and George Moses Avila, 40 of Redlands, as the primary suspects involved in a stabbing that took place on Sept. 11 in Loma Linda near the intersection of California Street and Redlands Boulevard.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, MET Deputies contacted both suspects at a residence in Redlands and placed them under arrest for Penal Code 664/187(a) – murder and Penal Code 245(a)(1) – assault with a deadly weapon. George Anthony Avila and George Moses Avila were subsequently booked into custody at Central Detention Center in lieu of $1,000,000.00 bail.

 

Deputies investigate fatal traffic collision

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Mojave Drive and Village Drive

VICTIM(S): Manuel Rivera, 45-years-old, Resident of Victorville

On Saturday, Nov. 2, at approximately 6:23 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Station and rescue personnel from the Victorville Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus bicycle crash in the area of Mojave Drive and Village Drive, in Victorville.

Upon arrival, deputies determined a bicyclist, identified as Manuel Rivera, 45 of Victorville, collided with a GMC Sierra. Rivera sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the GMC Sierra remained on scene and cooperated with deputies. The Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation.

Suspect drives through residential yards during pursuit

On Saturday, Nov. 2, at approximately 12:15 a.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Station initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Seventh Street and Tracy Street on a motorcycle with no license plate.

The motorcycle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The driver of the motorcycle, later identified as Franklin Shearer, 60 of Victorville, rode into the Desert Breeze Mobile Home Park. Shearer drove at a high rate of speed and drove through multiple yards to evade deputies. The motorcycle became stuck, and Shearer was detained without incident. Shearer was found to be on parole and in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Shearer was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, for V.C 2800.2(A)- felony reckless evading; H&S 11378- possession of a controlled substance for sale; and P.C. 3056- violation of parole.

Suspect who robbed victims outside convenience store arrested

On Sunday, Nov. 3, at approximately 8:42 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a 7-Eleven convenience store in the 16800 block of D Street, Victorville, for a fight inside the business.

It was discovered Robert Lee Tharp, 40, a transient of Victorville, robbed several victims who stood outside of the business. Tharp ran inside the convenience store where he was confronted by the victims, which led to a physical altercation. Tharp assaulted the victims with food items and chemical agents.

Tharp was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, for P.C. 211- robbery.

Deputies respond to shots fired, locate deceased male

On Friday, Nov. 8, at about 5:15 a.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station responded to a residence on Ninth Street in Bloomington for the report of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they located the victim, Pedro Chavez, 32, deceased inside the home.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division –Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation. Through investigation, detectives determined David Chavez, 25, the victim’s brother, was responsible for the murder. David Chavez was arrested and booked in at the West Valley Detention Center where he remains without bail.

Detectives investigate death of Rialto man

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, at about 11:42 a.m., deputies from Victor Valley responded to a residence in the 34400 block of Wilshire Road in Lucerne Valley for suspicious circumstances. The reporting party was at the location and believed he saw a deceased person inside the home. Responding deputies arrived and located a male subject, later identified as Anthony Zamora, 26 of Rialto, deceased.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail also responded and assumed the investigation. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the manner and cause of death, and the investigation is ongoing.
