I am back again to announce our success on Saturday, Nov. 9!

Our Rim High Marching Scots performed at the Riverside King Band Review. In sports terms, we like to think of Riverside King as the playoffs, and we have been very anxious and eager to get there.

We finished in second place for our division, which is a very admirable accomplishment.

Off the mountain, we are known as the “small but mighty band.” When our band is performing, I personally stand among the audience and I hear their comments. These people know us before they see us, and only in a good way! For me, that is a really amazing thing to hear and see. People who live in Anaheim, Riverside, Orange County and even a few in LA county know Rim of the World High School and they know what we can do!

Our Marching Scots were graded by a battery of judges – seven in total – and marked off on every single error of musicality and marching. Our scores show that we march at the same level as the best bands in the region! To put that in perspective, the best bands in the region march with a score of 194 out of 200. Our score was 193 out of 200. That is a tremendous accomplishment We are not done with our hard work yet. We now just need our musicality to move forward with more accuracy and warmth.

I know you all know Brenden Watson, our prodigious drum major! He reached second place, against all of the other mace drum majors in the region. His score with the first-place drum major was incredibly close, and once again shows just how hard Brenden pushes to be the best in all of Southern California. We are very proud of him!
