Flying a drone can be fun and even informative BUT flying them in a zone where an active fire is burning is not only a bad idea – it’s illegal and is a federal offense. A drone flying over the recent fires in the Los Angeles area hit a plane dropping fire retardant, damaging its wing and taking it out of service.
