Girl Scout cookies are now on sale throughout the mountaintop area and most other Southland communities. The cookies went on sale on Sunday, Jan. 26 and sales are slated to end on Sunday, March 16.

Members of Crestline-based Girl Scout Troop 1062 were encountered at the entrance to Goodwin and Son’s Market mid-day on Sunday, Feb. 9, offering nine varieties of cookies, including Thin Mints, Trefoils, Carmel deLites, Girl Scout S’mores and Peanut Butter Patties (also known as Tagalongs).

When asked which cookies are selling the most, 11-year-old Kallie, who attends MPH Intermediate School in Lake Arrowhead, said that, so far, the best sellers are the Thin Mints, Carmel deLites and Peanut Butter Patties. When asked how much the Girl Scout cookies are selling for, Kallie’s sister, 8-year-old Sadie, who is a student at Valley of Enchantment Elementary School in Crestline, said they are selling for $6 a box. However, she said, the gluten-free cookies are $7.

Kallie’s mom said that any profit generated from the sale of cookies is used for campouts and field trips. “My favorite field trip,” Kallie said, “was skydiving.” Her Mom said it was at an indoor mall in Ontario. Sadie said she enjoyed visiting the Wax Museum in Hollywood. They all agreed that their favorite camping trip was at a campground in Idyllwild, where she met Girl Scouts from other parts of Southern California.

According to Mom, her daughters have not only made new friends but have also learned first aid skills and gained internet awareness.
