The mixer held on Feb. 11 at Logan Construction and co-sponsored by Vitalogy Health was the first Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce mixer of the new year. It was an evening of engaging conversations and delightful refreshments. It offered an opportunity to meet fellow business owners, managers and community leaders from the mountain area who are passionate about making a positive impact in Lake Arrowhead.

Despite the predicted rain and cool temperatures, the mixer attracted a full house of happy chamber members who spent their time networking and enjoying the free, delicious and constantly replenished hors d’oeuvres and drinks that were laid out for everyone to enjoy. They had, of course, wine and cheese, crackers, veggies and dips, as well as many types of sliced meats, plus mini-BBQ beef and pulled-pork sandwiches – a really wide variety of refreshments on which to snack.

The theme for this mixer was Valentine’s Day. Everyone was in a great mood and learned about each other’s business, and many met others and discovered ways to work together that would benefit both businesses and the community. During the evening, they passed around a donation jar that raised several thousand dollars for the Mountain Communities Boys & Girls Club, as they are doing a small expansion project and needed a bit more to complete the project.

One of the purposes of this mixer was to welcome four new businesses into the chamber. Business owners Daniel and Julia Shubin and family, who were in attendance, were presented a membership plaque to display in their place of business. They also recognized the future projects the chamber has planned. Dr. Ken Witte, president of the chamber board, introduced Lori Butler, the chamber’s new interim executive director. They wished Robin Bull well as she has been offered a new job working with San Bernardino County Supervisor Dawn Rowe. Dr. Witte also introduced the members of the chamber board of directors in attendance.

Door prize tickets were given to everyone when they entered the mixer. Cecilia Ponce de Leon, the immediate past president of the chamber board, drew for the four fabulous door prizes, including a huge basket from the Rim of the World Historical Society which had historical books, including The Mountain Guide and a hiking stick for exploring the area a massage certificate from Vitalogy Health; a Valentine basket; and a dinner for two from the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge.

Steve Gonzalez won the Valentine’s Day basket door prize.

The mixer was coordinated in a very short period of time to recognize and celebrate the recent changes at the chamber but came off as a high-quality event, as all their events are. There was lovely music played by realtor Paul M. and Suzanne Martin Krainock from Inspired Benefit Auctitons, dressed as the Queen of Hearts, made it a super festive mixer!
