The Crestline branch library hosted a family art event on Feb. 19, offering participants a chance to explore new artistic techniques.
Family Paint Day is a periodic event at the Crestline library, held once every couple of months at random intervals. Usually, the medium is tempera paint, but this time around they tried something new – oil pastels. This was a hit among the families in attendance because there was less mess to clean off the kids.
The session followed a directed format, with the instructor guiding attendees through various techniques. Some followed along closely and created the colorful blended four-panel skyscape, while others chose to free-draw and experiment on their own with the explicit approval and encouragement of the staff.
These events provide a welcoming space for families to experiment with art together at no cost. They are a great way for local families to see if their children might uncover a hidden artistic talent.
If you’re interested in joining the next creative session, keep an eye on the library’s calendar for upcoming events. Special events like Family Paint Day are typically held on Wednesdays at 3 p.m.
