The Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce is planning a centennial celebration of its founding. The chamber was formed in November of 1924 but, because of the fires last fall, the celebration was postponed. They will hold a celebration on April 22 to recognize this significant milestone in its long history.
The chamber is actively seeking descendants of the original board members as well as those who have been involved in the chamber over the past century.
The original Lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce board members were J. Fraser Barbrick M.D., E.P. Bill, D.G. Chapman, C.E. Bugg, H.M. Vincent and E.K. Hoak.
Today’s chamber is seeking any other accomplishments and achievements the original board members may have had in their lives.
The chamber wants to make a history of its activities over the years and list the many accomplishments the chamber has achieved over these years.
The chamber’s original committee members were: Sports Committee – Morris Elinger, Joe S. Chambers, Dr. Ralph L. Power and E.L. Mitchell; Publicity Committee – Dr. Ralph L. Power and H.M. O’Mallay; Civic Committee – Mrs. Dora K. Chapman, Mrs. Ann Copelannd and Mrs. J.E. Henck; Road Committee – Karl A. Parsons, Frank Mannin and A. Ora Miller; Entertainment Committee – O.L. Papineau and T.E. Johnson.
Anyone with information on these individuals – including their full names – is asked to contact Lori J. Butler, the chamber’s interim executive director, at (909) 336-1547 or (909) 336-1548.
The chamber has a list of those who have been honored as Citizens of the Year but those who did the day-to-day work of keeping the chamber running and significant are not as well documented.
