Fifteen teams composed of friends, club members and co-workers came together to raise funds for the Rim of the World Educational Foundation on Palm Sunday at Rim Lanes in Crestline.
The place was packed with friends, family and community members supporting the cause of raising funds for education of local students at all grade levels and enjoying the endless pizza, nachos, salad and sodas that were included in the entry fee. The amount raised was not available at press time.

The judges – Robin Bull, Jody Glaviano and Michelle Hake – said they had a fun and stress-free afternoon at Rim Lanes.
A western theme was chosen for this 10th annual Rim Ed Foundation Bowling for Education. Each team was encouraged to come dressed for the costume contest.
The costume contest winners were the “Saloon Gals of Lake Arrowhead,” members and friends of the Women’s Club of Lake Arrowhead: Lorna Polley, Mary-Justine Lanyon, Teresa Coon, Ines M. Stewart. Emily Reynolds and Suzann Foster. Three of the Saloon Gals wore T-shirts with the saying “Pretend I’m a saloon girl” while the other three wore stunning saloon girl costumes; they all wore black fascinators and sequined gloves. They also won the prize of bowling the lowest team score over two games. Nathan Hazard got the recognition as the best dressed cowboy for the afternoon; his chaps tipped the scale in his favor.
Honorable mentions went to Ken Stunkard, of the Deadwood Land team, who came dressed as a pirate. The team honorably mentioned was the Buckaroo Bowlers with Chandra and Castulo Olivas, Deborah Realyvasquez, June Cromwell and Leslie and Travis Anderberg.
The three judges for the afternoon were Jody Glaviano, the 2015 grand marshal of the Jamboree Days parade; Robin Bull, local representative for Supervisor Dawn Rowe; and Michelle Hake, vice president of the Crestline Chamber of Commerce.
“It is amazing to see so many here together to support the education of our Rim students,” Hake said. The judges also presented the awards at the end of the afternoon.
All proceeds raised will go to the Rim of the World Educational Foundation, which supports the Career Technical Education (CTE) classes, their Partnership with School awards given to all Rim schools, and the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program, which helps students learn how to study better and be organized.

The Deadwood Land team was highest scoring team for the second year in a row.
In second place for the highest scoring team were the Rolling Mountain Bruins with Marilyn Mays, Rona Kay, Jim Ferranti, Fancy Davis, Kathy Lewis and Nic Perez. First place for the second year in a row was Deadwood Land, consisting of Rick Ortega, Elizabeth Castelli, Caitlin Weaver and Denny Fite, with team member Richard Rice getting recognized as the highest scorer in the building.
The event drew a large number of spectators, who enjoyed watching the action. One of the spectators for the afternoon was longtime resident Allen Mairs, who commented on the afternoon of teams dressed in western gear, smiling and screaming over strikes and spares, representing many nonprofit organizations: “A good time was had by all today.” His bride, Eileen, agreed: “It is good to be out here with our community people.”
The teams bowling represented numerous nonprofit groups and just friends who support education. Other teams included Crestline Hot Yoga, the Split Personalities, the Tumbleweeds, Strikes and Spurs, The Alley Ranchers, the Texas Can’t Hold ‘Em and the Pickleball Posse.
Rim Ed President Jo Bonita Rains, whose husband, Dr. Patrick Rains, coordinates the annual PolaRotary Bear Plunge each February said, “I am so happy to see so many out today having a great time and raising so much to support our education programs for our students. I thank everyone who came today.”
