At the April 15 Crestline Chamber of Commerce meeting, Richard and Elizabeth Krumwiede were announced as the 2025 grand marshals for the Jamboree Days parade. The parade will take place on July 5 at 10 a.m.

The Krumwiedes, owners of the award-winning Sycamore Ranch Vinyard and Winery in Dart Canyon, are being honored for their success in positively promoting the quality of the community through their award-winning wines and ciders. When they began, their aspiration was modest: “To gather with close friends, enjoy good food and make great wine.”

What began as a group of friends making wine for themselves has become a respected award-winning winery for the nation. They have even restored some century-old orchards in the Dart Canyon area, which now produce high quality apples for their ciders.

It was also announced that Jamboree Days parade registration is officially open on the chamber website. This is the community’s opportunity to join in the fun of being in a parade. “Get ready to join us for the most patriotic, fun-filled parade of the year,” said chamber board member Dirt Rinker, the Jamboree Days coordinator.

The deadline for parade registration is midnight on June 27, 2025. The parade will begin in Top Town Crestline and travel east across Crest Forest Drive to Fern Drive (turning at the historic Andy Fletcher Triangle Park) to Lake Drive and continue through Lake Gregory Village to Lake Gregory, where it will disband. There will be numerous announcers at approximately 10 announcing locations along the route, describing the parade entries.

There are six categories for winning an award in the parade: The Americana Trophy for “most outstanding depiction of national treasures and traditions.” The Arthur Gregory Trophy for “most outstanding float built and decorated by volunteers from a community or nonprofit organization.” The Charles S. Mann Public Spirit Trophy for “most outstanding presentation from a commercial participant.” The Showmanship Trophy for the “most outstanding display of showmanship and entertainment.” The Theme Trophy for the “most outstanding presentation of the Jamboree Days theme,” which is “Crestline Vibes – 2025.” The final award category is the Judges Trophy for “most outstanding float design and dramatic impact on the judges.”

When registering, be sure to include a description of your parade entry. This 30-second statement describing the float will be read by the announcers as the parade takes place and your entry passes by. The cost to enter the parade is $40 for a float, $25 for nonprofit group entries and $20 for an individual car in a car club or group. Motorized vehicles must be insured. The parade can only accept about 75 entries, so be sure to register early at www.jamboreedays.com.

Another major announcement at the meeting was that the annual Duck Derby, which has been snowed out for the past three of the last five years, has been reimagined to occur at the Community Picnic, which will be held the weekend before Jamboree Days at the San Moritz Meadow. The ducks will swim from the lake to the shore for the $1,000, $500, $250 and $100 prizes. Duck adoptions will begin in late May and all of June for the June 29 picnic swim. The picnic will include with relays races, music and fun from noon to 4 p.m. when the duck derby will take place. It is hoped that community members will line the shore, encouraging their duck to win!

There are still volunteer spaces for community members to be involved in many aspects of the Jamboree Days weekend. Registration for vendors spots to rent have just opened and they need bands to play and people to help with the kid’s zone and along the parade route. You can email them at info@CrestlineChamber.org to volunteer some of your time, such as an hour or two, during the day-long event.

That Saturday evening over Lake Gregory will be their annual free fireworks show; the beach will close for the day at 5 p.m. and reopening at about 6 to 6:30 p.m. for folks to select a spot on the beach shore to watch one of the best fireworks shows in SoCal. The snack bar at the lake will be open for a while on the beach.

Corks & Hops will begin on Saturday, June 7. There will be live music, artisans, food trucks and, of course, specialty wine and beer tasting all over the community. There will be bounce houses for the kids. Many other businesses also are open for those who are walking between the tasting locations and there will also be busses taking visitors from Top Town to the Lake Gregory Village area. Early bird tickets are now available online at www.corksnhops.com. The other dates this summer will be July 12, Aug. 2, Sept. 13 and the final event of the summer will be Oct. 4.

The Crestline Chamber of Commerce meets the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at their chamber office located on Lake Gregory’s north shore, at 24385 Lake Drive.
