Rain, shine, or snow – Running Springs residents show up. On Saturday, April 26, mountain locals gathered on the wood chip-covered field next to the Running Springs library to celebrate the long-awaited return of the Running Springs Farmers Market and Artisan Faire.
While some vendors canceled due to weather, there was still a large turnout from both vendors and guests. The initial announcement of the market’s return highlighted new small businesses like Mountain Secrets Photography, offering a chance for the community to connect and explore businesses online before attending.
Mountain Secrets Photography is a local photography business run by John Lafirira, a creative now based in Running Springs, specializing in capturing the natural beauty of the San Bernardino Mountains and beyond. Ahead of the market, they announced their plan to present postcards, stickers and fine art prints on social media.

Hardy vendors and residents turned out for the first farmers market of the year in Running Spring.
And, as promised in the initial marketing post, the first 50 attendees received a gift – a gray and white tote bag to carry purchased goods throughout the event. A paper was handed out to those who spent $25, which allotted a free prize. Various vendors lined the area, including Buenrostro Farm, with farm-fresh eggs, sweetened strawberries and a range of vegetables to choose from.
Locals patiently lined up outside the A Cast Away Seafood tent, awaiting a taste of the coast, while others bolted in, looking to purchase some native plants from local vendors and explore the handmade wares of Ashen Silver Designs.
Then there were fan favorites like Really Fresh Bread and Bread Above the Clouds, both businesses carrying an assortment of options, from brown butter dark chocolate chip sourdough cookies to freshly baked banana bread. The air was crisp as snowflakes fell across the market. Members of the Running Springs Area Chamber of Commerce slowly gathered around their tent, among other locals, as they prepared to cut the red ribbon.
“We’re thrilled to see the community come together, even in the snow – now someone take the photo!” said one member.
And just like that, the ribbon was cut, while vendors and locals gave a brief applause, marking the official beginning of this season’s Running Springs Farmers Market and Artisan Faire. It was a joyous event filled with laughter, community and a little bit of familiar frost.
The market will continue to run every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Whispering Pines Drive.
