The Antique & Classic Wooden Boat and Woodie Car Show will be arriving this Saturday, June 7, in Lake Arrowhead Village. This show is celebrating its 40th anniversary at Lake Arrowhead.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., come visit the woodie cars set up on display along the lakefront of Lake Arrowhead Village, as well as look down at the classic boats floating in Lake Arrowhead at the Arrowhead Lake Association (ALA) docks in front of McDonalds – all for free. To go down onto the ALA docks and talk with some of the boat owners, there is a $5 donation requested.

There will be over 32 wooden and antique boats scheduled to be on display; each will have a short biography in the free program that all visitors will be given. The program this year features many historical covers of previous years of the Lake Arrowhead show; the Antique & Classic Boat Society is proud that some of these beauties make their regular summer home on Lake Arrowhead.

The owners of the wooden boats often sit in or next to their boats on the dock and would love to explain all the steps they had to accomplish to get their boats looking so beautiful and running so well.

The Up the Hill Woodie Car Club will be displaying their selection of woodie cars all along the lakefront. The primary home of most of the cars’ owners is Lake Arrowhead and the mountain communities; however, they go throughout Southern Californian to car shows showing off their restored rides.

The Rim of the World Historical Society sponsors the Antique & Classic Wooden Boat Show each year and is happy the boats are back again this Saturday, June 7. The historical society will also be offering their books, pictures, wooden boat show shirts and will have historian Russ Keller on hand to talk mountain history.

The free Mountain History Museum will be open all weekend long, beginning Friday, June 6 from noon to 4 p.m. and all day Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This schedule will continue every weekend all summer and into October. The museum, which is completely run by volunteers, is located at 27176 Peninsula Drive at the corner of Rhine Road, in Lake Arrowhead.

There are several new displays this year at the museum, since there are some major anniversaries occurring this year, including the 70th anniversary of Santa’s Village and the centennial of the beginning of the construction of Green Valley Lake after the realignment of the Rim of the World Drive.

The museum has numerous upcoming events this summer, including a free ice cream social from noon to 2 p.m. on July 4 at the museum, the same day as the Lake Arrowhead holiday fireworks show. See the Crestline bus on July 5 in the Jamboree Days parade in Crestline, filled with many of its docents. Come meet Smokey Bear on Saturday, Aug. 4 and help him celebrate his birthday. Remember to bring your camera or cell phone and take your photo with Smokey and enjoy the museum as well.

On June 27 and September 12, the historical society invites residents and visitors to take the History and Celebrity Cruise on the Arrowhead Queen and learn about the movies filmed on the lake and history of the area given by historical society docents, following a champagne reception on the dock. This fundraising cruise is $35 a person and tickets are now on sale at www.mtnmuseum.org.
