Deputies respond to call of man brandishing gun

Lethal force encounter occurs

On Friday, May 30, at approximately 7:41 p.m., deputies from the Highland station responded to a service call regarding a man brandishing a firearm at a person in the 25800 block of East Baseline Road. Upon arrival, deputies found Jacobo Hernandez, 43 of San Bernardino, in his vehicle, armed with a gun.

Deputies ordered Hernandez to exit the vehicle; he refused. A lethal force encounter occurred during the incident, and Hernandez was struck by gunfire.

Deputies provided medical attention and requested emergency medical personnel.

Hernandez was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No deputies were injured during the incident.
