Hundreds of folks – Moms, Dads, grandparents and kids – showed up for the fourth annual Community Picnic, sponsored by the Crestline Chamber of Commerce and held on the San Moritz Meadow on a warm and sunny Sunday, June 29.

Amid a cluster of pop-up tents and dozens of vendors booths, parents relaxed under their canopies while their children frolicked in the meadow and participated in various competitive events such as an egg on a spoon race and a watermelon eating contest.

There was also a hatting ceremony for the Grand Poohbah, longtime Crestline resident Allen Mairs. He and his Poohbah Court, Carlos Castaneda and Tanya Michel, helped raise $4,400, half of which will be used to help fund Crestline’s Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza to be held at Lake Gregory on the evening of Saturday, July 5th.

The picnic ended at 5 p.m. with the return of the annual Lake Gregory Duck Derby, which had been canceled for the past two years due to extensive snowstorms.
