The Crestline Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Oak Leaf Bakery in Lake Gregory Village in Crestline to celebrate the bakery’s first anniversary on Friday, June 27.

Oak Leaf Bakery owner Erin Willcutt was thrilled with the large crowd that came out for the 9 a.m. event. The tiny storefront is located at 24081 Lake Drive in Crestline.

Chamber President Louis Boehle said, after the ribbon was cut, that he is happy that Oak Leaf Bakery is doing so well and wished Willcutt continued success. The chamber has held three ribbon cutting ceremonies in the month of June in Crestline.

Willcutt told a bit about her journey, from liking to bake to her home-based business to the market night pop-ups and now this storefront. The SBDA helped her grow her business from her kitchen to this store, where she sells her small batch bakery items. She operates a home bakery with a Cottage Kitchen permit from San Bernardino County.

The storefront is open Friday through Monday, from 10 am to 5 p.m., and she always is open to accept special orders. Oak Leaf Bakery still sells at The Market at Lake Gregory on Friday night markets from 4 to 8 pm.

“I use only the best ingredients, the ones I would use for my family in my baked goods, and make only small batches so the quality and love are in each item,” said Willcutt. She began baking bread for the Mountain Homeless Coalition and has continued doing this.

Milet Lazairaga Gayton from State Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh’s office and Robin Bull, representing Supervisor Dawn Rowe’s office, each had words of encouragement and expressions of congratulation for Willcutt. Then she was “mugged” by Lori Butler of the Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce with a mug filled with chamber items.

Willcutt was happy the new mural by Wes Abarca was being finished on the building at the same moment the ribbon cutting was occurring. The larger-than-life size mural of a bear and her cub, on the side and back of her 100-square foot building, is a welcome addition to the murals of Crestline.
