One of the biggest events this year at Leisure Shores, which is located on Lake Gregory’s eastern shore in Crestline, will be the fundraiser “Miami Comes to the Mountain.” It will treat partygoers, who are age 21 and older, to an evening to remember with dancing, games of chance, fun and good drinks, too.

As a flock of flamingos descends on Lake Gregory and paparazzi light up the night sky, “Miami Comes to the Mountain” will bring tropical glitz to Leisure Shores on Saturday, August 23. This event from the Crest Forest Senior Citizen Club will benefit two worthy causes.

There will be games of chance to play, such as Center/Left/Right and Tampa Bay horse racing and more. To emphasize the Miami Comes to the Mountain theme, attendees are encouraged to come dressed in Key Largo style or in Miami’s best pastels since those who enter the Key Largo fashion contest will win prizes for the best designer style and model duos, and more.

The main theme of the night will be fun music and pink flamingos. “We invite you to dance, dance, dance as long as you want,” says Carrie Forbear, Crestline’s 2025 Citizen of the Year who is coordinating this event. “There will be two dance contests, both with prizes, beginning with a group dance instruction to get people in the mood for moving.” Plus, there will be an irresistible silent auction and a bar, so fun should be had by all who attend.

Admission for this fabulous fundraiser is only $30 per person and includes delicious appetizers. There will be wine, beer and margaritas available for purchase, as are mocktails and sodas. “We are fortunate to have an outstanding facility for the community here to use at Leisure Shores, but it takes work and a healthy budget to maintain,” said Forbear, the senior club’s fundraising director. “We want to ensure we can continue offering this space to local seniors, and for the community to rent for their events,” added Forbear. “Plus, we are happy to offer a steady location to our other primary “tenant,” the Mountain of Promise, which provides an adult day care program for those 21 and over with special needs, which is a little-known and underrated benefit to parents who could use a break from 24/7 caretaking.”

Miami Comes to the Mountain will be an afternoon and evening of amazing fun for all. Enter it on your calendar app now and get your tickets soon, as space is limited. Ticket sales and donations are welcome to early bird ticket shoppers at Leisure Shores at 24658 San Moritz Dr., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each weekday, and at several sales locations such as the post office and Goodwin’s these next couple of weeks, and during the senior luncheons from 11:30 to 12:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the San Moritz Lodge, or on the day of the event at Leisure Shores, if tickets are still available.

The Crest Forest Senior Citizens Club is open for membership to those age 50 and over; it offers activities, classes and a social setting to meet others in the community. Located at 24658 San Moritz Drive, Crestline, it is across the meadow from the San Moritz Lodge and is air conditioned with a full calendar of events each month. Come see all they do, and the fun they have while working together to make the community a great place to live.
