Smokey’s Bear’s 81st birthday party, held at the Mountain History Museum on Aug. 3, was attended by almost 200 people. Fifty kids did the museum scavenger hunt, winning prizes. The cake, popcorn and lemonade party was enjoyed on the shaded patio in almost perfect weather by all.

Little children were thrilled when meeting Smokey during his party.
Smokey had selfies taken with over 100 visitors and enjoyed saying “hi” to the little children the most. Many of his adult friends and fans came dressed in clothing decorated with Smokey’s face and one boy brought his own Smokey Bear figurine to meet Smokey.
As a surprise to Smokey, the Rim varsity cheerleaders stopped by the museum on their own scavenger hunt looking for posters and were excited to take a photo with Smokey Bear.
The Mountain History Museum is located at 27176 Peninsula Drive in Lake Arrowhead. It is open through the middle of October on Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. and weekends from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The focus of the museum is local mountain history, with volunteer docents helping visitors learn about the various communities of the mountain area.
