First Friday at The Lake House not only features the work of exceptional artists but also benefits local charities, who receive a portion of the proceeds from sales during the event.

The First Friday being held on Sept. 5 will feature the work of painter Julie R. Evans and woodturner Holger H. Paetau.
Julie Evans prefers to work in oils, painting realistic scenes that are little slices of life. Her main inspiration is the natural world and day-to-day life. She is often struck by spontaneous observations that yield successful paintings. Her landscapes convey a feeling of calm and serenity, a place for quiet contemplation.
Woodturning has allowed Holger Paetau to combine his artistic visions, mathematical mindset and pure joy of working with wood to create his pieces. Segmented woodturning allows him to incorporate his own creative style while bringing the natural beauty of the wood to the forefront. The majority of his work is done with all-natural colored woods. He uses recycled materials from discarded objects whenever possible to reduce environmental impact.
From 4 to 7 p.m., guests are invited to enjoy some wine, hors d’oeuvres, friendship and fine art. Each month Robin Lyles, owner of The Lake House, chooses a local nonprofit to benefit from sales on First Friday. The Sept. 5 beneficiary will be the Lake Arrowhead Rotary Foundation.
The Lake House is located at 28966 Hook Creek Road in Cedar Glen. For more information, call (909) 337-7676 or visit LakeHouseCollection.com.
