The September Corks & Hops will take place on Sept. 13, rather than the first Saturday of the month, due to the Labor Day holiday weekend. From 3 to 8 p.m., guests can take shuttles between the tasting locations.

The chosen theme for the September Corks & Hops is “The 1990s,” so come ready to recall the ’90s and party down. Be a part of the fun by dressing up in 90s styles as you enjoy and recall the nostalgic music of that era, which will be played live on four stages throughout the business district. Advance tickets are $40, saving attendees $10; for that price, attendees receive 10 craft beer or wine tastings, with a souvenir tasting glass, plus shuttle access to the various locations.  So, break out those casual cargo pants, from the back of your closet, wear your comfy baggy clothing, flannel shirts with ripped jeans, plus slip dresses, and crop tops, or wear those popular neon or animal print styles that you loved. This is the perfect opportunity to swing them again.

Serving beers from at Encompass and The Flying Squirrel, one of the 11 pour stations.

On Bizzyland’s outdoor stage, the group Rockshow will be playing, setting the 90’s grunge vibe for all. For the “Ale You Can Drink” ticket, which costs $55 in advance, attendees receive two full-size pours plus 10 craft beer or wine tastings including the souvenir tasting glass, plus live music at four stages and the shuttle access between the tasting locations.

August’s Corks & Hops was enjoyed by hundreds on Saturday, Aug. 2. Since the event had an 1980s theme, many were sporting the clothing and hairstyles of that era. One even came in a 1984 Olympic-themed outfit, and the bands were playing songs popular in the 1980s, inciting dancing to “break out” at numerous locations.

The Crestline Chamber had ordered “chamber of commerce weather” and they got it – warm enough to not need sweaters and cool enough that many chose to walk between some of the pour stations in the Lake Gregory Village area where many of the 11 wine and beer pour stations were located. Three pour stations were in Top Town.

There was an artisan market in the parking lot of Higher Grounds Coffee Company, where there was also the check-in station and the shuttle bus stop.

There were numerous food trucks in the Top Town and the Lake Gregory Village areas, plus many of the “Corks & Hoppers” stopped at the local restaurants for dinner during and after the event. The bands helped set the 80’s groove, including Totally Tubular, The Steve Taylor Band, Angela Perry and Steve’s Rock ‘n Roll Time Machine.

Learning about the past and future from Gigi Bannister at Bizzyland.

The Time Machine at the Ace Garden Center was not only playing great 80s music, they got many folks to get up and dance, to songs such as “Twist and Shout” from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (although originally from the Isley Bros and the Beatles in the 1960s). The food trucks and vendors for the evening were Snow Pebbles Shaved Ice, Nicky’s Bronx Pizza, Vancil Saxon, C&B Smokehouse and Taco & Mas.

Also appearing at Bizzyland was Gigi Bannister doing tarot card readings, overlooking where they were pouring a either of two choices from the Ritual Brewing Company and Monte Rio. Across the street at Lake Gregory Outdoor Company, they were pouring from The Paysan and Escape Craft Brewing Company.

The Crestline Chamber of Commerce coordinates these Corks & Hops monthly events with its volunteers to enable the community to get out and enjoy the vibes that Crestline projects, while supporting its merchants and inviting visitors to this summer resort town. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.corksnhops.com or from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at 24385 Lake Drive at the chamber office on the north shore of Lake Gregory.

By getting involved and enjoying the fun, everyone agrees, Crestline continues to be the Swingingest Town in America.
