The victim, an adult female, called 911 after being attacked by a family member, Nathan Shepard, 36. Shepard attacked and assaulted the victim with a metal fireplace aerator poker across her upper body and head. After deputies arrived at the location, they discovered Shepard had left the location prior to deputies’ arrival. The location was cleared and secured, and deputies and fire personnel treated the victim’s injuries and transported her to a local hospital for additional medical treatment, where she was diagnosed with life threatening injuries. An arrest warrant for Nathan Shepard was authored and signed by a San Bernardino County Superior Court Judicial Official. On Sunday, Sept. 7, Shepard was contacted by the Chino Police Department. He was taken into custody without incident, transported to and booked into West Valley Detention Center under the charge of California Penal Code 664/187(a): Attempted Murder. Anyone with information about the investigation (Case No. 052501224) is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Twin Peaks Station, at (909) 336-0600.
