Some two dozen law enforcement personnel and interested local residents showed up bright and early at the Crestline Café on Tuesday morning, Sept. 23 to share casual conversation, coffee, herbal teas, donuts and other fresh pastries on a beautiful blue-sky morning during one of the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station’s occasional Coffee with a Cop events.

Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station officials and office workers enjoyed coffee while mingling on the café patio.
Station Commander Captain Craig Harris shared that the station has recently boosted the number of deputies and office personnel who so aptly operate the station’s daily practices and procedures. New employees, Harris said, include a new sheriff’s lieutenant, two deputies and one law and justice office specialist. The deputies, said Harris, are already one-third of the way through their initial training at the sheriff’s academy in Devore and will soon be transferred to the department’s jail division for inmate training procedures at the department’s Central Detention Center, near Etiwanda. Once that training is completed, the new deputies will be assigned to routine patrol duty in numerous countywide communities.
Also new to the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station’s staff is Lieutenant J. Vasquez. When asked what inspired him to pursue a career in law enforcement, Vasquez, age 30, said that, since he was a child, he always wanted a career in law enforcement. “The county is pushing pro-active training with an emphasis on a positive attitude to make sure the public knows we’re working here in their communities,” he said.
Another new recruit is Sergeant Ian Buchowiecki, who is also affiliated with the Child Family Services (CFS) Department. Buchowiecki is responsible for reporting ongoing child abuse incidents, many of which are reported by school employees.
The several-hours-long event mostly occurred on the outdoor patio of the Crestline Café; however, some of the deputies and other sheriff’s personnel wandered inside the café for a breakfast break.
