Senator Rosalicie Ochoa Bogh was successful in getting a state resolution adopted in late August establishing Oct. 28 as First Responder Day in the state of California.
A first responder is an employee of an emergency service who is likely to be among the first people to arrive at and assist at the scene of an emergency such as an accident, natural disaster or terrorist attack. First responders typically include police officers, deputy sheriffs, firefighters, paramedics, rescuers and even volunteers. Some will tell you, “First responders are the people you see running in when everyone else is running out.”
The Mountain Rim Fire Safe Council invites you to join a community meeting on Oct. 28 at the Twin Peaks Community Center at 6:00 p.m. to celebrate our local first responders. They were honored at the Pine Cone Festival on Oct. 4 as the VIPs of the Festival.
First responders give much more than many people realize – just doing their jobs in serving and protecting the citizens of our mountain communities. Please join us to show your appreciation and have fun, too!
