…and through the wood, to Grandfather’s house we go.’

While some folks will enjoy Thanksgiving with family or friends, others will be looking for a place to enjoy a traditional turkey dinner.

They need look no further than the San Moritz Lodge in Crestline. Once again this year, the Crestline-Lake Gregory Rotary Club – with the help of committee members from other nonprofit organizations and mountain churches – is sponsoring the free community dinner.

Tables in the lodge will be decorated with turkeys and greeting cards made by the members of the EarlyAct Clubs at Valley of Enchantment Elementary School. Volunteers will greet diners and help them find seats. Other volunteers will be at the ready in the kitchen to fill their plates with turkey, stuffing, potatoes and the other sides that make up the holiday meal. And, of course, there will be pie.

None of this can happen without the support of the community. The Rotary Club is seeking donations to help defray the costs, which have risen since last year. Making a donation is simple: Visit crestlinerotary.com, type in Community Thanksgiving Dinner in the “Purpose” square and click on “Pay Now.” Every amount – large or small – will help us put on this dinner, which is so appreciated by the community.

So, if you don’t have plans for Thanksgiving – or if they change at the last minute – please join us on Nov. 27 at the San Moritz Lodge. We will be serving from noon to 4 p.m.

We look forward to celebrating with you.
