On November 10th across the globe, Marines who serve in every clime and place will be celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Marine Corps.
The mountain division of the Victor Valley Marine Corps League, Detachment 1383 will be hosting the 6th Annual Marine Corps Birthday celebration on November 10th at the Tudor House, 800 Arrowhead Villa in Lake Arrowhead. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. Music, food and cash bar will be provided. A drawing will be conducted to raise money for a scholarship for a veteran who is enrolled at Victor Valley Community College. A handcrafted wooden plaque provided gratis by Salty Beaches Creations will be the prize.
This a momentous year for all Americans to pay homage to our devoted Marine veterans, who are known for their ferocity and ability to excel against all odds and their tradition of delegating authority to those of lesser rank, as they hunt and seek all those who would do harm to Americans. As the late Lieutenant General Victor “Brute” Krulak declared, “America doesn’t need a Marine Corps, America wants a Marine Corps.” The Globe and Anchor awarded every Marine upon graduation is the source of the dictum, “The few, the proud, the Marines.” Coupled with the phrase, “Improvise, Adapt, Overcome”, it is evident why there is no such thing as a former Marine.
From Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, where the Marine Corps was founded, to the Tudor House 250 years later, the motto “Semper Fidelis” has been imbedded in the DNA of every living Marine. We invite you to come celebrate with us on November 10.
