This year’s Trunk-or-Treat Classic Car Show had it all: lions, tigers and Chevelles. On Saturday, October 11, the CHP Arrowhead Area office welcomed families, friends, and car lovers to a spirited event featuring cars, costumes, and community fun. The event, held at 31230 Highway 18 in Running Springs, ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and drew visitors from across Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, and surrounding mountain communities.

The little cats, witches and astronauts aren’t scared of this spooky skeleton at all.
From vintage hot rods to VW Squarebacks, the car show portion offered something for enthusiasts of all ages. Classic trunks were decked out for Halloween with witches and candy bowls, offering a spooky walkthrough for kids in costume. One social post from the Lake Arrowhead Communities page thanked CHP Arrowhead and the Running Springs Fire Department for “hosting a fun trunk-or-treat and classic car show!”
The trunk-or-treat format allows families to enjoy a safe and controlled trick-or-treat experience on the CHP grounds. It’s become a staple that extends past the mountain community to neighboring CHP units down the hill, like CHP Rancho Cucamonga. In addition to the treats and the wheels, attendees had access to giveaways and opportunities to meet first-responder staff, ask questions and learn about public-safety resources in a relaxed atmosphere.
Attending these events eliminates typical street traffic worries amongst other safety concerns while giving children a chance to collect candy. Organizers say events like this strengthen local law enforcement ties with mountain families and reinforce that family fun and public safety can go hand-in-hand.
