Mountains Community Hospital Foundation is proud to announce the receipt of a $50,000 grant from the Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation., a Florida-based philanthropic organization renowned for advancing healthcare and medical
research, with an emphasis on cancer and brain diseases like Lewy body dementia.
This generous award comes as MCH starts its fundraising to support a major seismic compliance project and hospital expansion that will secure the future of emergency and acute care for the Rim of the World Mountain Communities.
The connection to the Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation began through Pete Loncteaux, a local resident and supporter of MCH. Prior to his retirement, Pete worked in the aerospace industry in South Florida, where he developed a close professional relationship with Harry T. Mangurian Jr., the owner of the company he worked for. Mangurian established the Foundation that now bears his name. It was because of Pete’s deep, long-standing relationship with the Mangurian family and Foundation leadership that MCH was even considered for this opportunity. Through his advocacy and personal outreach, Pete introduced the hospital’s vision and mission to the Foundation, ultimately leading to this $50,000 grant.

“Pete’s engagement perfectly illustrates what’s possible when thoughtful communication reaches the right person at the right time,” said Kim McGuire, MCH Foundation Executive Director. “It’s a reminder that every newsletter, social media post, or meeting holds potential to open doors we never knew were there.”
At the heart of this effort is a proposed $72 million hospital improvement and expansion project, including an installation of systems for power, water, and sewer to remain fully operational and self-sustaining during a major earthquake; a new 17-bed Acute-Care Wing; a modern Emergency Department with expanded triage and treatment capabilities; and an expanded Skilled Nursing Facility, increasing capacity to 33 beds.

Mangurian Jr. Foundation for its generosity and to Pete Loncteaux for his efforts and relationships that made this partnership possible,” said Peter Venturini, MCH Foundation President. “Their support will have a lasting impact on access to care in one of California’s most disaster-prone regions.”
