Deputies arrest Big Bear City man for attempted murder of his estranged spouse

On November 3, 2025, at approximately 6:55 a.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 1100 block of N. Mound Street regarding a report of shots fired. A neighbor reported that a male, later identified as Tamio Sakai, was discharging a firearm outside his estranged spouse’s residence.

Upon arrival, deputies located Sakai by his vehicle, in front of the residence, and detained him without further incident. Deputies located the firearm in Sakai’s vehicle and observed evidence that it had been recently fired. Deputies determined that Sakai had fired multiple rounds in the direction of his estranged spouse. The victim was not struck and did not sustain any injuries.

Deputies arrested Sakai for attempted murder and booked him into custody at the West Valley Detention Center, where he is currently being held on $1,300,000.00 bail. Sakai is set to be arraigned at the San Bernardino County Superior Court on November 5, 2025 at 8:00 a.m.
