Community Care Fund brings hope and help to residents

Mountains Community Hospital Foundation is proud to announce the creation of the Community Care Fund, established in October 2025 through a generous $30,000 donation from a compassionate community supporter. This special fund was created with one heartfelt goal in mind – to ensure that everyone in our mountain community feels empowered to seek quality healthcare when they need it, without fear of overwhelming medical bills.

“We are deeply grateful for the generosity that made the Community Care Fund possible,” said Peter Venturini, president of the MCH Foundation board. “This act of kindness will make a real and lasting impact on our community, ensuring that no one hesitates to seek care when they need it most. We hope this incredible gift inspires others to join us in supporting the health and well-being of our neighbors.”

While Mountains Community Hospital (MCH) has long provided financial assistance to patients who meet certain income-based qualifications, the Community Care Fund helps offset a portion of the costs associated with providing essential and emergency medical care to uninsured or underinsured patients.

This initiative comes at a critical time. With impending Medi-Cal cuts expected to reduce coverage for millions of Californians, more local residents may find themselves without adequate health insurance in the coming year. “As state and federal healthcare funding becomes more uncertain, this fund will help ensure that no one in our community goes without care simply because they can’t afford it. It’s our way of standing together when times get tough,” said Mark Turner, MCH Chief Executive Officer.

Here’s how it works: the hospital reports its financial assistance expenses each quarter and provides the Foundation with the hospital’s cost of providing care. The Foundation then provides funding to help offset those costs. It’s simple, transparent and ensures every dollar goes directly toward caring for local patients. Community members can now make donations to the fund through the hospital’s website, mchcares.com. Simply select “Community Care Fund” from the dropdown on the donation page.
