On Tuesday, Nov. 25, Operation Provider distributed 188 Thanksgiving Day meals, with each family receiving a 20-pound turkey with all the traditional fixings, including fresh veggies and eggs. The families also received a whole frozen roasted chicken for a future meal.

Operation Provider’s Holland Lowe was quite excited that she and her volunteers were able to provide these holiday meals for these families.

Lowe is already planning the 20-plus year annual Christmas Day celebration with a complimentary meal and holiday party with Santa. Operation Provider hosts this celebration at the Elks Lodge in Rimforest on Christmas Day. Between then and now, Elf Debbie will again be seen at the local grocery stores, ringing her little bell, collecting donations for this meal. The funds raised also help Operation Provider provide food, clothing, utility and emergency assistance, plus referrals for services for those on the mountain in need.

Operation Provider is located at 26525 Pine Ave, in Rimforest. The nonprofit has faced recent challenges as bills for rent, electricity and other expenses have increased and food sources have become tight. Lowe is accepting donations to keep this food bank operating at www.operationprovider.org. Call her for additional information at (909) 337-8585.
