For a decade, the Heisler Theater Company has presented A Christmas Carol to the mountain community. The story is from the original story by Charles Dickens, who is also included in this version of the play.
“We are thrilled to be back at the Tudor House theater facility with its beautiful proscenium arch and curtains and the opportunities it gives both our theater group and the mountain audiences,” said Director Jeff Heisler. “Now is the time to buy tickets to the live show, as seats are limited.”
Although British in origin, as it was written by Charles Dickens, the story has been slightly adapted and fully adopted by American audiences, to become an essential part of Christmas culture in America during the holiday season. The story of Ebenezer Scrooge who has focused his whole life on money, which hasn’t brought him happiness, resonates with so many. Scrooge shares his bitterness with all those around him, yet they seem to remain in a positive state of mind.
After the death of his business partner, Marley’s ghost comes back in an attempt to enlighten Scrooge to the errors of his ways. He sends Scrooge three more spirits, which remind him of his past life, when he was happy, how miserable his present life has become through his poor choices and predict his probable future, if he doesn’t change his ways.
After the visits by the spirits, Scrooge becomes aware of the unhappiness his unthoughtful actions have inflicted on others. He reverses his attitude and becomes a generous and thoughtful person.
