The Crest Forest Senior Citizens Club (CFSCC) is starting the new year with a schedule filled with returning and new activities. Each day of the week different fun groups gather, plus healthy exercise groups take place. Leisure Shores is located on the east shore of Lake Gregory in Crestline, across the Meadow from the San Moritz Lodge.
The CGSCC has returning activities such as their Oldies but Goodies and Philosophy groups, and yoga, Tai Chi, walking groups and bowling activities all take place. Learn new skills with groups such as P.E.A.R.L.S., beginning Spanish, sewing and quilting, and the Mountain Music Makers. The Music Makers perform for local functions and sometimes for other groups. The members like to play games such as Bunco, poker, dominoes, card games, and they have a monthly book club. Most club activities are free for members. Others that have consumable materials may have a small fee to cover those costs.
This month they began a new craft activity on the first Friday of the month, Crafternoon coordinated by Megan Miller. In the first session of this new craft class, participants made vision boards as a way to begin the new year. A vison board is a collage of images and words that represent a person’s wishes or goals for the future.

Miller offered a list of 30 inspirational and insightful questions about this next year to consider when making the vision board. The members brought magazines and copies of photos for their boards. About 10 attended this first Crafternoon session. The next session will be held on Friday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m.
Crestline’s 2025 Citizen of the Year Carrie Forbear said, after her vision board was completed, “It was a very enjoyable vision board craft class. Lots of good discussion and connections throughout the afternoon. We were all deep into the project, and each went home with our own beautiful reminders for motivation throughout 2026.”
The sewing and quilting sessions also create lovely items, some for themselves and the Quilts of Valor that are presented on Memorial Day and Veterans Day to local veterans, under the direction of Ginger Gabriel. You are invited to learn more; just come and visit Leisure Shores, 24658 San Moritz Drive, at 9 a.m. on the third and fourth Monday of each month.
Becoming a member of the Crest Forest Senior Citizens Club and getting involved in all these activities and friendships only costs $20 for a year. Active members also receive a free parking hang tag for their vehicles to park in the parking lot.
The seniors also sponsor a twice weekly luncheon for those aged 60 and above at the San Moritz Lodge on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. These nutritionally balanced meals are funded by San Bernardino County through their Department of Aging. These meals are another great opportunity for community members to socialize and meet new people, as usually 80 to 110 people attend each meal. The menu for the month is posted on the CFSCC Facebook page. No RSVP is required to participate in the luncheons nor is membership in the Crest Forest Seniors Club required.
