Last year, Chad Logan of Logan Construction sponsored what he called the Community Giveback. In announcing the event, he said that “thisunique initiative aims to bless the families of our mountain communities with day-to-day household items. We are thrilled to invite all families to join us for this incredible Logan Construction and Al Barro Foundation partnership giveaway.”
The Al Barro Foundation was founded in September 2018 by Najoi Jabali and members of her family. Over the years they have addressed humanitarian concerns in Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Lebanon and at home in California.

“This is my friend’s foundation,” Logan said. “Knowing that they have this foundation, I asked what I could do in my community.”
Last year’s event was a huge success. Folks started lining up long before the doors opened. Volunteers inside the former Country Furniture helped them find the items they needed.Following the event, the Al Barro Foundation posted a “heartfelt thank you to all the amazing volunteers and people involved in this project” on its Facebook page.
“Your hard work, dedication and kindness created an incredible atmosphere and truly made a difference. Together we are building a stronger, more supportive community.“We are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and for allowing us to come into your town and share the love we have for you all!”
The second Community Giveback will take place this Saturday, Jan. 17, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the same location, 27240 Highway 189 in Blue Jay.

Those planning to attend must register by scanning the pictured QR code. The form asks for the person’s name, their contact phone number or email address and the number of people in their household. Anyone unable to register through the QR code may stop by the Logan Construction office in Blue Jay (27221 Highway 18, next to the library) and register in person.
“Help us spread the word to friends and neighbors who could use extra support this year,” said Logan.“We’ll be giving away brand-new household items to families in our mountain community, and we want these blessings to reach the people who need them most.”
