Help people in Belize see better

Shellie Boydston – one of the founders of HAFDRA (Humanitarian Aid for Development and Relief Agency) – has put out a plea for folks to donate gently used prescription glasses, reading glasses, sunglasses (prescription or non-prescription) and eyeglass cases.

Boydston and her team of HAFDRA volunteers will take the donated glasses to Belize on their annual medical and dental mission trip to the Central American country in April.

“A simple pair of glasses can change a life,” Boydston noted on a flyer soliciting the donations.

The glasses will be given to men, women and children in underserved Belizean communities served by HAFDRA.

There are a number of places where folks can drop off their donated glasses:

  • Blue Jay: Dr. Joseph Morales, Arrowhead Dental Arts, 402 S. Grass Valley Rd.; LACSD, 27307 Highway 189
  • Lake Arrowhead: Dr. Guy Giacopuzzi, 29099 Hospital Rd., Suite 208; Optima Health, 29099 Hospital Rd., Suite 204; Dr. Keith Burkart, 29099 Hospital Rd., Suite 205; Dr. Philip M. Nisco, 28200 Highway 189, Suite 2-250; Lake Arrowhead Elementary School, 1300 Golden Rule Lane
  • Crestline: Valley of Enchantment Elementary School, 22836 Fir Lane
