Deceased man found in roadway in Wonder Valley
On Friday, April 10, 2026, at 9:48 a.m., a citizen was travelling on Gammel Road, in Wonder Valley, when he saw the adult male victim in the roadway. The victim was partially sitting in a wheelchair that was on its side. Deputies arrived at the location and determined the victim was deceased.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation. Investigators observed trauma to the victim’s body and quickly determined the victim had been murdered somewhere else and left on the road.
Through investigation, detectives identified a suspect, Jimmy Rodriguez, and learned the victim and Roriguez were in a physical altercation, in the city of Highland, that led to the victim’s death. Detectives also determined that after the murder occurred, Rodriguez drove to Wonder Valley and left the victim in the roadway.
Rodriguez was arrested and booked at the Central Detention Center where he remains without bail.

Theft from memorial statue at Lake Arrowhead Village
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Twin Peaks Station, is seeking the public’s assistance regarding a theft at Lake Arrowhead Village. Sometime between March 13 and March 27, 2026, unknown suspect(s) stole a small bronze dove from the Detective Jeremiah MacKay memorial statue. The statue is located on the peninsula at 28200 Lake Edge Road, Lake Arrowhead.
The estimated replacement cost for the bronze dove is between $3,000 and $5,000.
