Hospital celebrates 75 years with new name and brand

May 27, 2026 | Health

Mountains Community Hospital is entering a new era as it celebrates 75 years of serving the mountain communities with a new name, refreshed brand identity and ongoing campus expansion projects.

Formerly known as Mountains Community Hospital, the organization is now officially Mountains Community Health – a change that reflects its evolution from a small 32-bed hospital founded in 1951 into a comprehensive healthcare system offering primary care, emergency medicine, surgical services, skilled nursing, dental care, rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging and more.

The rebrand comes during a milestone year for the organization and alongside significant investments in the future of healthcare on the mountain.

In 1951, six nuns and 15 staff members opened the original hospital on a hilltop above Lake Arrowhead with two operating rooms, an emergency clinic, a delivery suite and nursery, one ambulance and a mission to provide care close to home for mountain residents.

Over the past 75 years, the organization has grown through the support of the community it serves. Voters established the hospital district with an overwhelming 84-percent approval rate, donors helped fund critical equipment and services, and generations of families chose to receive their care locally.

Today, Mountains Community Health includes advanced surgical suites, 3D mammography, an 80-slice CT scanner, two primary care clinics, a dental clinic, skilled nursing services, physical therapy, a full laboratory and a 24/7 emergency department with an FAA-approved heliport.

“We outgrew the word ‘hospital,’” CEO Mark Turner said. “Today, we are much more than a hospital. We are a full health system serving the mountain communities across every stage of care.”

The organization intentionally retained the words “Mountains” and “Community” in its new name to honor both the region and the people who have sustained it for decades.

The new visual identity draws inspiration directly from the mountain environment, incorporating imagery of mountain peaks, lake waters and natural landscapes. The updated color palette features deep forest greens, soft sage tones, warm neutrals and accents inspired by local sunsets and wildflowers – designed to create a warm, welcoming and distinctly mountain-centered feel.

The refreshed branding will gradually appear across campus signage, printed materials, digital communications and online platforms over the coming months.

Mountains Community Health is also developing a new website with simplified navigation, updated service pages and dedicated sections highlighting both the Foundation and the organization’s ongoing building and expansion projects. Existing website links will continue to redirect seamlessly during the transition.

As Mountains Community Health enters its next chapter, its mission remains unchanged: delivering compassionate, high-quality healthcare close to home for the mountain communities it proudly serves.
