This is the last week to nominate those outstanding Crestline residents who have shown themselves to be a positive contribution to the community and deserve to be the Citizen of the Year for 2026. Anyone can nominate a Crestline area resident to be the 2026 Crestline Citizen of the Year. The Citizen of the Year will ride in a car of honor in the Jamboree Days Parade. They will be recognized all year and may represent the community at ribbon cutting events with the chamber of commerce, if they choose.
To nominate a person for this honor is simple. Go to the webpage www.jamboreedays.com, click on the Citizen of the Year tab and write in your nomination’s name and the reasons they deserve the honor, giving several precise reasons. Nominations should only be about 180 words. The nominations will close on June 7.
The nominees will have their stories written up in the newspaper including their accomplishments and their impacts on the community. Then the Crestline Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors will choose from among those nominated as the 2026 Citizen of the Year. This is one of the few high honors the community can bestow on a resident. In 2023 over 85 residents submitted names for Citizen of the Year consideration.
Previous Citizens of the years were: 2025, Carrie Forbear; 2024, Jerry Renfro; 2023, Mike Johnstone, the Goodwin family and all the Goodwin’s Market workers; 2022, Steve Garcia.
