Get your eyes examined – at no cost

Jul 22, 2026 | Front Page, Health

Next week, on Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28, folks age 5 and up will be able to get free eye exams and glasses at Mountains Community Health.

Dr. Gregory Smith and Dr. Ana Chang-Smith will be bringing the VSP Eyes of Hope mobile clinic to the hospital. VSP Eyes of Hope mobile clinics travel across the U.S. in partnership with local nonprofits and volunteer doctors to provide no-cost comprehensive eye exams and prescription glasses to individuals facing financial hardship or who do not have vision insurance.

Dr. Smith and Dr. Chang-Smith are donating their time along with members of their team to perform the eye exams during this two-day clinic. The two optometrists are part-time residents of Lake Arrowhead and longtime supporters of the MCH Foundation.

“Mountains Community Health Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Gregory Smith and Dr. Ana Chang-Smith for their generosity and commitment to improving the health of the Rim of the World communities,” said Kimberly McGuire, the MCH Foundation executive director.

Drs. Smith and Chang-Smith own and operate EyeGen Vision Center in Huntington Beach. Dr. Smith has more than 20 years of experience and specializes in the treatment and management of ocular disease, specialty contact lenses and advanced vision care. Dr. Chang-Smith specializes in dry eye treatments and curates patient-specific dry eye treatment plans. She has served on the medical staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and previously served as an assistant professor at the Southern California College of Optometry. Both are deeply committed to improving access to quality eye care in the communities they serve.

“Their generosity exemplifies the spirit of philanthropy and community partnership that strengthens MCH,” McGuire said. “By sharing their expertise and donating their time, they are helping ensure that our neighbors have access to essential vision care that can improve health, independence and quality of life.”
