After visiting the mountain for years with her grandparents, Katie Hectus made the move to Lake Arrowhead full-time three years ago.

Since she already had a retail shop in Long Beach, it only made sense for her to open a shop on the mountain. The Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce celebrated her shop, And Then, with a ribbon cutting on July 23.

Assemblyman Tom Lackey presented Katie Hectus with a certificate, congratulating her on taking the risk of opening a shop.

While her primary audience is the young adult woman, Hectus welcomes shoppers of all ages to the shop in Lake Arrowhead Village. In addition to clothing, she has cookbooks, sunglasses, mugs, jewelry and the ever-popular trolls.

“There was an overwhelming ask for the shop,” Hectus said prior to the ribbon cutting.

When asked about the shop’s name, she shared that there had been a legal battle over the name of her Long Beach shop. As she went through the process, she kept saying, “and then, and then.” And with that she had a new name for her shop.

Chamber president Scott Rindenow presented Hectus with her chamber membership plaque, saying, “Thank you for believing in our community.”

Milet Lizarraga Gayton, representing Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, presented Hectus with a certificate. And Assemblyman Tom Lackey himself attended.

“I’m proud of you for taking the risk of opening a shop,” Lackey told Hectus. “The mountain communities set an example for all other communities.”
