The 47th annual Run Through the Pines on Aug. 8 kicked off at 7:58 a.m. following an outstanding rendition of the National Anthem at the starting gate of the 2.7-mile loop around Lake Gregory.
Overall winners in the men’s 10k race were 17-year-old Ahris Mayorga, who captured first place with a time of 32:26.6; Addison Allhouse, 20, from Fort Belvoir, Va., in second place with a time of 33:14.2; and Micah Van Setten, 31, from Blue Jay, with a time of 36:13.4.
Overall winners in the women’s 10k race were Yoselin Canesco, 22, who captured first place with a time of 42:05.5; Heidi Madsen, 35, from San Diego, who took second place with a time of 44:04.2; and Brooke Lorz, 18, from Apple Valley, with a time of 44:15.06.
Overall winners in the men’s 5k race were Jayden Sack, 16, from Rialto, with a time of 18:50.5; Ayden Briones, 17, with a time of 20:36.5; and Alvin Chavez, 17, from Crestline, with a time of 20:45.7.
Overall winners in the women’s 5k race were Christy Peterson, 51, from Rolling Hills Estates, with a time of 21:38.6; Haley House, 16, from Apple Valley, with a time of 24:41.4; and Julie Albanese, 39, from Claremont, with a time of 25:35.9.
Water stations for thirsty runners along the south shore of Lake Gregory, on San Moritz Drive, next to the parking lot circling Lake Gregory were sponsored by Rim High band members. Water stations next to the north shore parking lot were sponsored by Lake Arrowhead Christian School Eagles. Additional water stations were sponsored by Lake Gregory Church on the Lake Gregory Dam; the Lake Gregory School water station was sponsored by Rim Recreation and Parks District; and an additional water station was located in front of the Crestline Chamber of Commerce office.
