The 16th annual Lake Arrowhead Brewfest, held under a white, marquee tent at the village’s Waterfront Park on Saturday, Aug. 22, attracted over 700 thirsty craft beer and wine connoisseurs. This is based on pre-festival ticket sales, said Ken Witte, a past president of Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce, a longtime sponsor of the yearly event.

Rebbeca Paloma and accomplice enjoyed their grapefruit-based Seltzer from Brew Knights.
Attendees, festival workers and volunteers reportedly began streaming into Lake Arrowhead Village around 9 a.m. in preparation of the event, which kicked off at 11 a.m. and was scheduled to wind down at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Some 28 breweries and wineries from throughout Southern California furnished samples of their signature brews and vintage wines. Meanwhile, a band played inside the tent, where attendees filled their cups at a dozen or more breweries, enjoyed the offerings of the food vendors while dancing to the rocking beat of the band.
When encountered lakeside enjoying some “Freedom Pop” from what she called “Brewery X,” Rancho Cucamonga resident Sarah Searless was asked how she found out about Brewfest. Sarah, whose cousin lives in Lake Arrowhead, told the Alpine Mountaineer, “I love Lake Arrowhead, and I come here for this every year.”
Drawing much interest during the Brewfest was another kind of brew. It was from the Mountain Brew Club, whose president, Jeff Kroeker, said it started in 2010. He said many coffee lovers enjoy cold brew coffee because of its rich flavor and nutritional benefits which keeps more of the coffee bean’s natural antioxidants, since it doesn’t use heat during brewing.
Also getting attention was Little Bear Brewing Company. The company’s Pale Ale and Double IPA are noted for their 8.5 percent “Big Boss” flavor.
The Lake Arrowhead Brewfest gathers craft breweries and homebrew clubs for an afternoon of unlimited tasting, live music and lakeside fun each summer.
