Violinist YuEun Kim is the special musical guest at this year’s Festival.

The Fall Music Festival, presented by the Arrowhead Arts Association, will take place on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

Maestro Tomasz Golka will return with the Arrowhead Arts Orchestra. He has chosen Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet,” Elmer Bernstein’s “The Magnificent Seven,” Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story” as well as several other compositions for this concert.

In addition, Maestro Golka has invited virtuoso violinist YuEun Kim to play Saint-Saen’s “Havanaise” and Ravel’s “Tzigane.”

The South Korean native moved to the U.S. in 2013 to attend the University of Southern California. She has performed in the U.S., Asia and across Europe. Kim was a top prizewinner at the Boulder International Chamber Music Competition, a semi-finalist at the Qingdao International Violin Competition in China and at the Michael Hill International Violin Competition in New Zealand. She recently received the Jeffrey Thomas Award from the American Bach Soloists.

Since winning first prize at the 2003 Eduardo Mata International Conducting Competition, Maestro Golka has appeared with orchestras in North and South America and Europe. Born in Warsaw, Poland, his family emigrated first to Mexico in 1980 and then to the U.S. in 1982. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in violin from Rice University.

The Festival will open with the music of the MountainTop Strings. Many of the students have just returned from their fourth Italian tour. They will share selections from that tour with the Festival audience.

Admission to the Festival is free but guests are asked to register at www.arrowheadarts.org/upcoming-events.

Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church is located at 27627 Rim of the World Drive in Lake Arrowhead.
